“My Half Night” is an upcoming feature film by Shan ng
On “My Half Night” I worked as the 2nd AC (Assistant Camera) in addition to a very brief feature as a Supporting Artist.
My responsibilities as the 2nd AC were preparing and organising camera equipment, managing batteries and media, assisting with lens changes, and helping ensure the camera team could work efficiently during fast-paced shooting days. Working on “My Half Night” was a great and valuable experience.
On Tiger Spirit, the 2023 Christmas advert for Colchester Zoo, I worked within the Sound Department while also supporting the production as a Runner. Produced while I was 17 and still a student, the project marked my first experience working on a professional film set and provided valuable insight into the wider filmmaking process.
Working as a Boom Operator, my responsibilities included assisting the sound team in capturing clean dialogue and on-set audio, positioning and operating the boom microphone during takes, and adapting quickly to different camera setups and shooting environments.
Alongside my work within the Sound Department, I also supported the wider crew as a Runner, helping with general on-set tasks and contributing to the day-to-day flow of the production. The experience gave me an early understanding of the pace, collaboration, and problem-solving involved in professional filmmaking
“Happiness” is a music video for local artist David Woodcock.
On “Happiness” I worked as a Grip and Runner, assisting the team with movement and setup of equipment throughout filming.
As part of the grip team, I helped with rigging, positioning, and adjusting equipment to support camera movement and lighting setups, I was expected to move efficiently and safely while solving problems on the go.
Many times light and camera setups required constant repositioning and it was my job to execute that correctly.
“Breakthrough” is a music podcast hosted by Jake Peach, exploring the journeys of once grassroots musicians who have gone on to experience their breakthrough moments within the music industry.
On Breakthrough, I have worked and continue to work as both a Grip and BTS (Behind The Scenes) Videographer, supporting production while visually documenting the atmosphere and creative process behind each episode.
As a BTS Videographer on “Breakthrough”, I capture behind-the-scenes moments that document the atmosphere, creative process, and personality of each episode.
“Not On Your Telly” is a local web-based TV Show for Southend-On-Sea, hosted by Radio Essex presenters Ross and John.
On “Not On Your Telly”, I worked as both a Camera Operator and Boom Operator, supporting production across visual and audio departments. As a Camera Operator, I filmed a range of documentary-style segments, including live music performances at venues such as The Fickle Pickle, a feature story on a local RNLI volunteer, festivals such as Lazy Days and Leigh Folk Festival, and coverage of a Southend United Womens match at Roots Hall.
